I am not your teacher; I am not your daddy.
I am not a preacher.
I am just someone who truly cares.
Some call me a motivational speaker.

I have many friends who got my back.
And a few who get my heart.
As I attract light and fight off the dark.
I turn to students for a spark... of hope.

I was once told that as my life would unfold.
I would not amount to much.
That my total was less than others and would always equal…
Not enough.

That success was out of my reach.
My teachers told me that I should not teach.
Because my spelling was far from strong.
and you can't teach if your grammar is wrong.

Enough about me, let's talk about you.
I don't pretend to know what you have been through.
I'm sure your tears have stories that are different from mine.
True.

And yet, we find each other here.
Leaders filled with hope.
An opportunity to help others (and ourselves) cope.

As the present moves to the future.
And your leadership brings unity to your community.
Your efforts will make an impact.
That's a fact.
An accomplishment that will reflect your commitment.

Enough about us, let's talk about our world.
Are we as a society numb?
Or are we choosing to play dumb?


Choosing not to see... Poverty.
Choosing to feed fear... instead of world hunger.
Choosing to question; Is global warming real...rather than prevent it.
Is it easier to pretend it all isn’t real... than to feel?

My intention is not to bring you down.
But to elevate your consciousness.
Inspire acts of kindness.
To treat others with compassion.
Which leads to action.

May Leadership begin from within.
and grow outward and move peace forward.
